Rudyard Lake Trust was formally registered as a charity on
June 29, 1996, with its main objects:
-
To conserve for the public benefit the natural environment
of Rudyard Lake and its surrounding area.
- To advance the education of the public in the said area.
The Board of Trustees represents the following organisations:
British Waterways
Staffordshire County Council
The Staffordshire Wildlife Trust
Horton Parish Council
Rudyard Lake League of Friends
Lake Users Forum
Rudyard Lake Ltd
The
Trust has been able through both private and public funding
to improve visitor facilities by building a new toilet block
and changing rooms, to convert a 150-year-old boathouse into
a Visitor Centre and to build a new Activity Centre which
houses a café, boat stores and meeting rooms.
The
new Activity Centre provides toilets on the first floor, a
lift, a galley kitchen and meeting room capable of seating
100 people. This can be divided by soundproof partitions to
form two separate rooms. Balconies are provided with excellent
views over the lake. Full catering services are available
for bookings.
